Field Trip Reflection

Part I From Haven To Home

The purpose of these exhibit was to learn about immigration and about the Jews who where bullied for coming to America as immigrants.
While having an awesome tour at the exhibit I learn a lot of new things that I had no idea that had happen in the past such as the fact, that.

Peter Stuyvesant. the Dutch governor of the colony. wanted to expel the Jews. while Jews learn to adapt to America they still contacted their families that they had left behind. Once in a while the Jews would send money to their families who didn't get the chance to move to America. This is something that I found really interesting because at first I just couldn't imagine that the Jews would still get the chance to contact their families all though way from America. In 1880's millions of Yiddish-speaking Jews came to America from Russia and a lot of the Jews how came to America where also from Russia. Something I also found really interesting was how states adopted a new national constitutional in 1787. George Washington became the nations 1st place. Dr. Seuss the book was translated into Yiddish. 1st Jewish Sunday school started in 1988.Barbara Strizah was a Jew that did did a lot in the Jewish community and since she was an actor she used most of her money that she had earn from acting to help the Jews. Before world war II only a few thousand people lived in La's Vegas. New Amsterdam was the placed where lots of immigrants lived at.

Part II Children of Immigrants.

While visiting these museum I saw a lot of different art pieces that I really liked because allot of them had different story's behind, but there was only one art piece that really got my attention was called "Lady and daughter in Airport" "New Immigrants Arrivals 1998" These art piece had a daughter who was hugging her five year old daughter and they had most of their belongings with them in suitcases. you could pretty much tell that they where in the airport because the background of the picture. These picture didn't have much color it was on black and white. the mom and daughter seen happy because they where finally gone go to a better country where they could make a better living at

Quote : America is all about different cultures and i am really  glad that I have a chance to contribute to our society.  The greatest thing I hope for in my life is to become a successful person and to have a family and friends to support me. not to be looked at by just the color of my skin but who I am inside

I chose these quote because it really got my attention and I could really relate to it. I've always wanted to be looked at and judge by my personality not my culture. Since I come from a country where there's a lot of violence . most people when they first heard the word Colombia the first thing that they think of is drugs and violence so they think that I have some of that on me.  I could also relate to this quote because I think that the person who wrote these quote think just like me in a way. The way the author wrote these quote it really inspired me in a lot of different ways.
