Quote # 1
I join a throng of people on the platform, awaiting the train . I stand at the edge of the platform to make sure I don't miss my train: I don't want to be late on my first day.
I chose these quote because it shows that she was exited for her first job in America. I think Elli felt really exited and anxious at the same time. I also liked how the author of these book describe her day before going to work. I like how he sayed that there where a lot of cars passing by and it was rainy. I liked how he describe it because I I got a picture of what was going on right away.
Question # 1
How would do you think you would feel on your first day on school in a new country?. Explain with details.
Quote number 2
Mommy, it was backbreaking work. I was supposed to cut and fold five hundred huge sheets. I barely managed fifty when I developed an acute pain in my lower back. I'll have to explain to Mrs. Ryder that I am not capable of doing such hard physical labor. I hope she'll understand , and find more suitable employment for me."
I chose these quote because it shows how concern she is about her not been able to do the job and it also shows that she is a really honest person and she is not the kind of people that know for a fact that they can do something but they are too afraid to tell their boss so they just keep pushing them self's and at the end they end up hurt. These quote show me how brave Elli is and how she cares about other people.
I can relate to Elli in some ways.Sometimes when I know that I really cant do something I keep trying and trying but at the end if i still cant do it I tell my self that I wasn't build to do that kind of things, so I just give it up and move on with something else.
Question Number 2
